The first student replied, "The bicycle is carrying the sack of potatoes. I am glad that I do not have to carry them on my back!" The teacher praised the first student, "You are a smart boy! When you grow old, you will not walk hunched over like I do."
The second student replied, "I love to watch the trees and fields pass by as I roll down the path!" The teacher commended the second student, "Your eyes are open, and you see the world."
The third student replied, "When I ride my bicycle, I am content to chant nam myoho renge kyo." The teacher gave praise to the third student, "Your mind will roll with the ease of a newly trued wheel."
The fourth student replied, "Riding my bicycle, I live in harmony with all sentient beings." The teacher was pleased, and said to the fourth student, "You are riding on the golden path of non-harming."
The fifth student replied, "I ride my bicycle to ride my bicycle." The teacher sat at the feet of the fifth student and said, "I am your student!"

I heart Fizik bar tape, which represents an ideal combination of cushiness, stiction, and good looks. My 'shark has sported red Fizik tape (which matches the saddle, paint, etc. dead on) since birth. But with spring in the air it seemed right to dress the bike in white. Thus:
I'm thinking that this would look pretty spiffy, although the Velowife is somewhat attached to the current color coordinated look.

The Roaming Rides have been going on for a month and there are two constants to contend with: hills and wind. The former is by design and the latter by chance. But together they make the rides a little more strenuous than in past years.
Tonight we headed over to the north side of Greensboro, an area that I've begun to avoid. I'm averse to bad tempered drivers, you know. But I put aside my reservations and we started off from Christ Community Church (thanks for the parking privileges!) on Air Harbor Rd. The route follows several rolling roads; none of the climbs is particularly tough although they begin to add up over the course of the ride, particularly if you're trying to maintain a steady pace like we were.
Total for the night: 22.1 miles.

I'm a fan of the Bean Team. The VeloSon and I make a point of cheering them on every year at the Charlotte Crit, and I was psyched to see Neil Shirley on the podium last year at Greenville. It's the winning combination of coffee and cycling, for sure.
But this year I'm pulling for Team Type 1. I've been a diabetic almost as long as I've been a cyclist, so it's natural for me to get behind a group of guys who are putting together a season that's downright inspiring. After seeing them tear it up in Taiwan I'm pulling for them to have a big race in Georgia.

While the UCI and ASO continue to mark their territory, both fail to notice that they're making the whole damn place stink to high heaven.
